Here’s a quick UX tip for better SEO too.
Google doesn’t like interstitals. These are pop-ups taking up the whole screen, hiding a site’s content, that force users to dismiss it. They are often used to get email addresses or provide a final offer during exit intent.
Interstitals are still popular despite official calls from Google to remove them several years ago. Using them can penalize your organic search rankings, especially on mobile.
There’s an easy way to achieve the goal here… replace the interstital with a banner showing at the top or bottom of the site. This improves UX yet still promotes awareness for a newsletter sign-up or discount code.
